The three main focus areas were:

• Operational models: open access, alternative channels for publishing and knowledge dissemination
• Enabling technologies: mobile technologies, systems for distributed content creation and enrichment, RDF, OAI-ORE, etc.
• Applications/examples in practice: digital memory projects, data curation, collaborative OCR text correction, etc.
